Crossovers yes depends on model and condition.

Dual throats are considered less desirable by buyers. If we are talking about selling them, that's end of discussion.

Don't confuse selling with quality. Lots of crap is sold every day while good companies go bankrupt.

Actually, I was asking about the dual- vs. single-throat issue from a(n) listener's/acoustics point-of-view. I am just curious to know what the strengths and weaknesses of the two set-ups are.

I would guess that the single throat version has simplicity and cost going for it, while the dual might offer less distortion, higher efficiency and more headroom.

Little more complex but you are on the right track...obviously 2 play louder than one. Phase issues can cause peaks and dips, a single driver setup, in theory will play flatter. Multiple drivers faded as power handling grew only to return labeled "manifold technology. Nothing new.

One other note those dual throats are most likely Brass if they are the tar-filleds and will still fetch $300-500 just for the throats or more so it's all good !

They should look like this. This is a pair of 30170 for my1005's that I own, yours will be the 30172 for the 1505 just a little bigger.

I don't have any pictures and I haven't made a deal yet -- I am still waiting to learn what Altec amps and which WE pre-amp he has.

The story is that these 4 VOTTs and electronics came out of a Michigan theater -- no other details available for now.
